The Queen’s Park Community Council will be the first parish council in London for nearly eighty years
The campaign for a community council in Queens Park evolved from the Queens Park Forum, part of the Paddington Development Trust, which was set up in 2003. The campaign came into existence because government funding for that particular project ended.
In 2007, the Government passed the local Government and Public involvement in Health Act, which allowed the creation of community councils in London, with the aim of enhancing community governance in urban areas.
"The aim of enhancing community governance in urban areas"
Our Campaign for a community Council in Queen's Park, is the first campaign to use this new Act. We campaigned for a community council because we want to change our community for the better and we feel that this can be best achieved at a local level. We will be the first community council in London.

The campaign to introduce a community council was launched on 22 January 2011 with the support of the Queens park Forum (PDT) and most notably, Fabian who has spearheaded the project. The aim was to provide an ongoing support mechanism for our community after the demise of the Queens Park forum.

In April 2011, we presented to City of Westminster, over 1400 signatures requesting for a parish council.
The Historic Day
At an extraordinary meeting of the Council on 25 June 2012 it was resolved that the Queen’s Park Community Council be established. The decision to establish our Community Council arose out of a Community Governance Review which was triggered by the receipt of a petition (on 11 May 2011) seeking the creation of the new Community Council.
On 2 April 2014, the official Temporary Queens Park Community Council held it's first meeting in order to set the systems and procedures in place that will facilitate the incoming community council to start making a difference to the local community from the start.
When will our Community Council be created?
The Queen's Park Community Council will be created from 5 June 2014 with the election of parish councillors taking place in May 2014. Elections will take place every four years and be held at the same time as the City Council elections.
What will the Community Council do?
The general objectives of the Community Council, supported by the Queen's Park Campaign Group who have been instrumental in the process, include help for young and vulnerable people, the prevention of crime and anti-social behaviour, support for local business, as well as specific proposals including community events and the establishment of a Youth Council.
